One of the famous snacks is "JAGUNG TEMBAK" or Shoot corn, or Flower Corn because it looks like a blooming flower. This corn is often known as popcorn. This corn is called shooting corn because the tool used is an assembly, which looks like a cannon and always makes a fairly loud sound like a shot. This method of making corn shoots is unique and requires patience and caution when removing ripe corn because the assembly tool used is quite hot, if touched it can cause burns. In the first stage, the appliance is heated, then put 1 basket of corn that has been mixed with white sugar into the oven to start processing in the frying pan. One time the frying process only requires half a kilogram of corn considering the capacity of the tool can only accommodate a limited amount. The time required for the process of making corn shoots is about 15 minutes. Get ready to hear a loud banging sound like the sound of an explosion coming out of the Corn Shoot maker. This food is typical in the form of a snack that is easy to get if you want to enjoy it. It's crunchy, savory, and sweet. The price of 1 plastic corn shoot is quite cheap, which is 5000 Rupiah. In a day the seller of shot corn can spend about 30 kg of raw corn. 2 baskets of raw corn can make a sack of popcorn (25 kg sack). You can stop by Alok Market, in Maumere City, Sikka Regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to taste this snack. #JagungTembak #Maumere #NusaTenggaraTimur Introducing his name, Djitron Pah. Born into the big family of Pah, the artist and maker of Sasando from Rote Island. His father is a sasando player and craftsman who lives in the village of Oebelo, Central Kupang District, NTT. Djitron's father inherited the ability to make and play sasando from his father alias Djitron's grandfather, namely Aougust Pah. His grandfather was one of those who co-developed Sasando in Rote in the early 1900s. Djitron Pah became known when he appeared on the television show Indonesia's Got Talent on Indosiar in 2010. Djitron Pah won first place in Solo Sasando at the President's Cup Sasando Festival in Kupang, NTT. He has also appeared at the state palace at the 2009 Independence Day commemoration event and appeared on the television program "Indonesia's Got Talent 2010", the 5th winner out of 14,000 participants. His enthusiasm for preserving, developing, and introducing traditional musical instruments typical of East Nusa Tenggara is very high, which has brought him to several countries. Despite being an inspirational person and performing in several countries, Djitron still looks simple and humble.
To preserve this traditional instrument, he continues to work on making sasando using palm leaves as the basic material, resulting in a beautiful traditional musical instrument when played. There are various sizes of sasando that he has made, from the smallest to the largest, with the number of strings ranging from 32 to 48. As long as I can meet the experts in person, I also try to sing accompanied by sasando music. He wants to realize the ideals of introducing Sasando to young people. He knows very well the path he has to take, namely the pop culture path. He is good at playing pop songs such as the Beatle's song "Yesterday" or "Hey Jude"/as well as John Lennon's "Imagine". He also played Sasando with R&B music through Alicia Keys' song "If I Ain't Got You". On certain occasions, he even played his sasando with the dangdut song "Address False" by Ayu Tingting. He did this so that Sasando could also keep up with the times. He dared to try to play songs that at first, he thought were difficult to play with Sasando. He chose pop music so that people would know that Sasando could not only play folk songs. He wants Sasando to be able to enter into all genres of music. His desire to introduce Sasando finally brought him around the world. Many are surprised and, it turns out that Indonesia has a musical instrument like this. He was even more enthusiastic because it turned out that many young people were interested in learning sasando. Djitron is also happy to teach them, including through private lessons. Many come to the 12 x 20 meter Sasando House to see, listen, and also learn how to play the Sasando musical instrument. Not only Indonesian citizens but also foreign countries. He hopes that the preservation of the sasando does not stop in his hands, but can be developed by the younger generation so that they can pass on this musical instrument amid the development of the digital era. He hopes Sasando can be known throughout the world. |
